Gomila Mallorca is a transformative project comprising a collection of buildings in Palma's historic El Terreno neighborhood. Initially known for its vibrant nightlife, El Terreno had fallen into neglect until the Fluxà family, owners of the Camper footwear brand, acquired parcels of land around Plaza Gomila. Their vision was to revitalize the area while preserving its heritage and injecting innovation and creativity. The project consists of 45 residences of various sizes and types, alongside new commercial spaces. Each building boasts a unique character defined by its colors, materials, and roof designs, echoing the eclectic spirit of the neighborhood. The design philosophy emphasizes community living, with features like balconies, terraces, swimming pools, a gym, and a communal space for residents. Key among the buildings is the Gomila Center, a renovated structure serving as the project's focal point. It houses a public courtyard, a restaurant, offices, and a gym on the ground floor, while apartments occupy the upper levels. Adjacent to the Gomila Center is Las Casitas, a series of triplex townhouses arranged around a central courtyard, each showcasing distinct designs and maximizing space utilization. Other notable buildings include La Villa, which includes a commercial space and homes supervised by a foundation supporting people with intellectual disabilities, and Las Fabri-Casas, inspired by Camper shoes and featuring attached houses with unique roof designs. Terra, another building, boasts low-carbon apartments constructed with compressed earth blocks and a rooftop pool offering views of Bellver Castle. La Plaza, situated above Plaza Gomila, encompasses a reconstruction of the historic Bar Bellver, offices, and a communal rooftop space with panoramic views. Throughout the project, energy efficiency is prioritized, with strategies like passive climate control, aerothermal systems, and a collective photovoltaic installation contributing to reduced emissions and reliance on local materials. The project's diversity is evident in its varied building designs, catering to different lifestyles and needs. From residences for families to those tailored for couples or singles, the project aims to reinvigorate El Terreno by creating a vibrant and sustainable community. Gomila Mallorca stands as a testament to thoughtful urban renewal, blending modernity with tradition while fostering a sense of belonging and vitality in Palma's historic neighborhood.
