Designs Sought for Mangrove Wetland Museum

DESIGN schemes are wanted for Shenzhen Mangrove Wetland Museum (also known as China Mangrove Museum), according to a notice released recently by the Guangdong Neilingding Futian National Nature Reserve Administration.

The museum, located at the border between Futian and Nanshan districts, is close to key public facilities such as Mangrove Nature Reserve, Shenzhen Bay Park, Shenzhen International Garden and Flower Expo Park, and OCT. The wetland museum will occupy nearly 13 hectares, with landscape of 9.2 hectares. The total floor area is around 39,500 square meters, according to the project plan. The museum will be jointly built by the National Forestry and Grassland Administration and Shenzhen Municipal Government.

Mangrove, as the city tree, is an emblem of the city's spirit, according to a report in Shenzhen Economic Daily last week.

The museum, with functions including ecological preservation, exhibition, collection, education, scientific research and entertainment, will become one of the important cultural and public facilities in the city.
